The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has expanded its community support initiatives by turning over seven additional Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to local government units and government agencies. According to PAGCOR, this latest donation brings the state-regulated gaming agency’s total PTV contributions to 189 units nationwide.
Strengthening Local Emergency Response
The turnover ceremony, held at the PAGCOR Corporate Office in Pasay City, was led by PAGCOR President and Chief Operating Officer Atty. Wilma T. Eisma and Vice President for the Corporate Social Responsibility Group Naealla Bainto-Aguinaldo. PAGCOR identified the seven newest recipients as the City of Dumaguete in Negros Oriental; the municipalities of Narra in Palawan, Manay in Davao Oriental, and Sibalom in Antique; the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA); the Bureau of Corrections; and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco stated that the PTV donations are part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to bolster the government’s emergency response capabilities. Each donated vehicle is equipped with essential medical and safety features, including a stretcher, oxygen tank, wheelchair, first aid kit, and a navigation system. MMDA Road Emergency Group Head Edward Gonzales welcomed the donation, noting that the MMDA responds to eight to ten emergencies daily and that the new vehicle will significantly speed up patient transport to hospitals.
Support for the National Problem Gambling Helpline
Alongside its emergency response efforts, PAGCOR has partnered with SFO to launch the National Problem Gambling Helpline (NPGH), the first round-the-clock hotline dedicated to addressing gambling-related issues. SFO chairperson Teresita ‘Chit’ Castillo expressed gratitude for PAGCOR’s support, highlighting that the helpline bridges the gap between regulatory oversight and clinical, evidence-based interventions such as counseling and rehabilitation referrals.
The helpline is staffed by 12 trained para-counselors working in three shifts daily to provide immediate assistance, psychological support, and referrals to individuals and families struggling with gambling harm. PAGCOR Chairman Tengco commended the dedication of the psychologists, counselors, and social workers involved, stating that their compassion and expertise are vital to helping individuals rebuild their lives.
